We are honored we can support the 59th edition of the International Mathematical Olympiad that will take place in Cluj Napoca, on 3-14 July. More that 600 high school students from aproximatley 110 countries will attend this prestigious event. Each country is represented by a team of up to six students and accompanied by at least two mathematicians.
The history of IMO dates back to 1959, when the first edition was held in Romania with seven countries participating: Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, and USSR. Our country has organized other 6 editions of this olympiad and an unofficial ranking on the total number of medals puts Romania on the third place, according to the Society of Mathematical Sciences in Romania.
The event enjoys an important institutional support from the Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy, the Cluj County Council and the Cluj-Napoca City Hall, as well as the Babes-Bolyai and Tehnical Universities in Cluj-Napoca.
